Promoting women's soccerWomen soccer in Israel is poorly funded and frowned upon by traditional perspectives. I played in the professional women's league in Israel for 10 years (in pics on the right) and I also worked to create change, as a soccer trainer for elementary school girls. I separated girls in mixed classes, to train for soccer without boys. This usually was the first experience these girls had with soccer, because soccer in Israel is dominated mainly by men, and so is the perspective on who is allowed to play. There are still too few professional soccer teams for young girls, therefore I sought to arrive to schools in order to expose girls to this exciting and collaborative sport. This project was funded by The JOINT, and the Municipality of Jerusalem. |
volenteering at a horse stable for disabledAs an undergraduate student, I volunteered in a horse stable for disabled children in Kibbutz Gevim. I worked to improve the stable facilities and helped the professional team with visiting children. Horses sometimes have a calming effect on struggling children, and it was truly inspiring to witness their connection. |
